This 1-Year-Old May Never Be Back To Normal Life, But His Parents Are Not Ready To Give Up
Dharshan is a 1-year-old baby who had just started
speaking. One week back, he suffered from intestinal damage. An urgent
surgery was performed on the baby but he still needs intensive support.
His father Ganesh is a daily-wage worker who is finding it very hard to
meet the family's expenses.

“Even if his brain is damaged – we will be happy to care for him as long as he lives”
Dharshan
is his parent's only child. Ganesh works as a daily-wage worker in
Bangalore. Ganesh and his wife Sumitra decided that they would have one
child that they would look after well. Unlike them, he would study and
go to college.
Dharshan was just learning to speak. He was very attached to his mother and everyone noted how well-behaved he was in public. “Dharshan played quietly by himself, never breaking things, never jumping or screaming. Why is such a good, innocent baby going through so much pain?” asks Ganesh.
It started when Dharshan started crying and complained to Sumitra that he felt pain. He
had diarrhea and vomiting. He was passing blood – his insides were
bleeding. They took him to two hospitals before taking him to Manipal
Hospitals.
Dharshan is in the PICU at the moment fighting to heal and become better
At
Manipal, he underwent an urgent surgery and was put in the pediatric
intensive care unit. But in that time, Dharshan's little body had
suffered. Dharshan's organs were failing and he had suffered
permanent brain damage. But his parents are very clear – they want to
save Darshan at any cost.
“The doctors say that there is only a 5% chance that he will have the intelligence of a normal child. It doesn't matter - both me and my wife just want him to live. We will take care of him all our lives because we are his parents,” Ganesh says.
The last time Dharshan spoke was on the day of his surgery
Dharshan's
body has multiple organ failures. His kidney and liver are not
functioning. He is even having trouble breathing. He needs to be kept in
the PICU till he gets better. His father has already spent Rs 2 lakhs
on the treatment and has nothing left to pay the mounting bills.
How you can help
Ganesh and Sumitra know that their son will never be a normal child. They know that they have to care for him all their lives. They want him to live even at this great cost. Lack of money is the only reason they may still lose their child.
Our support will help these parents save their child's life.
